How to choose the right absorbency
Regular or Super? A simple way to think about it.
Absorbency is about how much fluid a tampon can take in, not about how long you can leave it in. The general guidance is to wear the lowest absorbency that comfortably handles your flow, and to change every 4 to 8 hours.
On your lighter days, a Regular tampon is usually enough. On the days when you wake up needing protection straight away, or when you are changing more often than usual, Super is the better fit.
It is completely normal to switch between absorbencies during a single period. Many people wear Super overnight and Regular during the day. Listen to your own flow rather than following a fixed rule.
If you find yourself needing an absorbency higher than Super, or changing far more often than every 4 hours, it is worth mentioning to a clinician — not because anything is wrong, but because heavy bleeding is something that can be checked and often helped.
